E165: Living with an Invisible Disability: How Michelle Steiner Proved Everyone Wrong

In this inspiring episode, we’re joined by writer, speaker, and paraeducator Michelle Steiner, who shares her powerful story of resilience and determination while living with an invisible disability. Diagnosed with a learning disability in kindergarten, Michelle faced academic and social struggles early on—and was often told what she couldn’t do.

But Michelle refused to let the limitations others placed on her define her future.

Against the odds, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Community Programming from Slippery Rock University, became a published writer, and now works with students with disabilities—offering the kind of support she once needed herself. Her writing has appeared in The Mighty, Non-Verbal Learning Project, Dyscalculia Blog, The Reluctant Spoonie, Kalopina Collective, Imagine the World as One Magazine, and Word Gathering, where her photography has also been featured.

💬 Michelle’s story is a powerful reminder that with hope, perseverance, and the right support, we can bloom through adversity.
